Tumor Markers






Pancreatic Elastase 1™ Stool ELISATest


ELISA test kit (based on monoclonal antibodies) available for the determination of pancreatic elastase 1 (E1) in stool. Allows for the diagnosis or exclusion of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, which can be caused by chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, pancreatic tumor, cholelithiasis or diabetes mellitus for example.  


  • Format: 96 well plate format with 12 single strips containing 8 wells
  • Sample: 100 mg spot stool sample
  • Incubation time: 1x 30 min + 2x 15 min.
  • Specificity: 93% 
  • Sensitivity: 93%
  • Values above 200 µg elastase/g stool indicate normal exocrine pancreatic function.
  • Values below 200 µg elastase/g stool indicate exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.

Advantages of using E1 as a diagnostic marker in stool:

  • E1 is absolutely pancreas-specific.
  • Since E1 is stable during intestinal transit, the faecal elastase 1 concentration reflects the secretory capacity of the pancreas (diagnosis or exclusion of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency).
  • E1 determination correlates with the gold standard, the invasive secretin-pancreozymin test and the secretin-caerulein test.
  • Intra-individual variation of pancreatic elastase 1 concentration is low.
  • Digestive enzyme substitution therapy has no influence on the determination of E1. The monoclonal antibodies used in the test do not cross-react with elastases of animal origin, which are contained in enzyme substitution preparations.
  • High stability of pancreatic elastase 1 allows time for convenient mailing of samples.

Pancreatic Elastase 1™ Serum ELISA Test


ELISA test kit (based on monoclonal antibodies) available for the determination of pancreatic elastase 1 (E1) in serum. Allows for the diagnosis or exclusion of an acute pancreatitis or an inflammatory episode of chronic pancreatitis or ERCP- or gallstone-induced pancreatitis.


  • Format: 96 well plate format with 12 single strips containing 8 wells
  • Sample: 1 ml serum
  • Incubation time: 1x 30 min + 2x 20 min.
  • Specificity: 96% 
  • Sensitivity: 97%
  • Values above 3.5 ng elastase/ml serum are pathological.
  • Values below 3.5 ng elastase/ml serum are normal.

Advantages of using E1 as a diagnostic marker in serum:

  • E1 is absolutely pancreas-specific.
  • Like other pancreatic enzymes, E1 is released into the blood circulation during an inflammatory episode. Due to its longer half-life, compared to amylase and lipase, its concentration remains elevated longer, and enables detection of an acute pancreatitis even three or four days after onset of the disease.
  • In contrast to amylase and lipase, the serum E1 concentration is only marginally increased in patients with renal insufficiency.

Tumor M2-PK™ Stool ELISA Test


ELISA test kit (based on monoclonal antibodies) available for the determination of Tumor M2-PK in stool. 

Tumor M2-PK is a highly sensitive and specific metabolic biomarker for colorectal cancer screening which is independent of "Faecal Occult Blood" (FOB).
